Sky blue eyes peered from behind a nearby gorse bush.
Skyfire's body was pressed against the earth in an effort to hide herself completely, the dust of the camp almost making her sneeze as her nose was inches away from the ground. However, the kit within her could not let this opportune moment pass by. A good hunter knows when to wait. A good hunter patiently times her pouce at exactly the right moment, so as to catch her prey unaware and complete her mission of survival.
She used to do this all the time when she was a kit.
Wait for it... Wait.
"RAWR!"
Her intended prey did not act as he should, despite the dramatic way she jumped out from behind the bush and yelled. Wolfclaw merely blinked, as he always did. "Skyfire, you realize it's gotten harder to hide behind that bush than when you were a kit."
"C'mon, Dad," her whiskers twitched with laughter as she got into a mock hunting crouch. "At least you would pretend to be surprised before."
With a flick of his tail and a slightly amused tone to his voice, Wolfclaw agreed. "Yeah, well, you were much more bearable then."
"Gee, thanks."
However, she still couldn't get through the businesslike exterior, as the dark-furred deputy continued walking, heading right toward the camp exit. "Shouldn't you be on patrol or something instead of these shenanigans?"
"Aw, Da, I went this morning. I'll go hunting in a bit."
"Because there's always something to be done."
Skyfire's tail twitched in annoyance. She was just trying to connect with him after the Hailstrike incident, which was obviously still bothering him, even though she knew her brother was a total mouse brain anyway. She still missed him, but she didn't miss the tension it had brought to her family. The tension it still was bringing. "I know, Dad. I always help out the Clan."
Wolfclaw had already left though, probably out to go hunting.
Skyfire sat in the middle of the camp, ears twitching. Somehow, that had felt a little like rejection. Not one to let it get her down, she promptly looked up to see who was around. Anyone would be a better conversationist than her father, who, StarClan bless his heart, wasn't much of a talker.
